On the phone I politely told someone that I didn’t want them to visit me as a client.
Can you believe the young man started arguing with me! So I hung up, of course.
This isn’t the sort of service one can enjoy if either the client or the masseuse is unhappy with the other person in the room. I am in business offering a service but there is no obligation for me to make that available to everyone who wants to visit me and I am perfectly entitled to turn away people who are ill-mannered.
The reason for the outburst? I had told someone he was too young, I prefer to see older men.
The youngster feels that he is a grown-up so entitled to visit me regardless of my thoughts on the matter and he told me I was ageist.
I am delighted, however, that the law does permit discrimination on the grounds of age and I can refuse to to see clients simply because they are young enough to be my children.
