The 26th April 2025 is the National Sense of Smell Day, which was invented in the 1990s (unsurprisingly) by the perfume industry.

Sometimes I am asked if I practice aromatherapy.
No. I do not.
It is a completely different thing.
The massage techniques may be similar, but apart from that, aromatherapy uses scents of essential oils in the air and applied to the skin. They may have a therapeutic effect, and they may smell lovely.

* You will leave with that scent on you
* You can feel quite ill during and afterwards if the scents don't agree with you.

For those reasons, I use a natural fragrance-free oil (grapeseed oil).
I try to minimise artificial fragrances in my premises and ensure that any scent is subtle.
Perfumes certainly have their place, I am not anti-perfume.
But when people visit me, they don't want to go away with a new smell, they don't want a scent to overwhelm their senses.
I don't use strong fragrances in my laundry products or on my body.
Clients won't go away smelling like me!
Clients will not be overwhelmed by scents when in my room.
*** There are exceptions. People who have visited me will know I have lovely-smelling Faith In Nature hand wash by the basin (and an alternative, less-smelling soap if you prefer). ***
